Gymnastics

One of Adam's more recent conversations with the babysitter...

"Hey Kennedy I want to show you something. Look this is my room, and this is my bed, and this is mommy and daddy's kitchen and look, look here is my daddy!"

I am sure she was facinated by everything. Here is some video of Adam at his gymnastics class. As you can see he is quite a natural.

This has turned into a crazy summer. It seems like we have something going on at least every night. We finally have our basement back to normal, which feels really good. We took Adam to the fair. He did really well, but was scared of all the rides. He did like the blow up jumping castle and the train, but everything else he just clung on the me or Ryan if we made any motion towards them. Adam has also started gymnastics at the YMCA. Its more of a structured play time, but he is learning how to tumble, balance beam and swing on the uneven bars. It is a pretty short class but he seems to be enjoying it.

A few days ago we had a really terrible thunder storm. The winds were so strong it knocked over part of our fence (pictured below). Adam woke up during the storm and informed his daddy that "My window is glowing!" and then made this request "Daddy, turn off my window!" He did eventually calm down and go back to sleep.

Looking into our neighbors lawn from ours! It is amazing how strong the wind was blowing.

Freedom!!!

Well, it only took two weeks, but we were finally able to move things back into our basement tonight. We did a little rearranging and tried to create a more open feeling in the "Man Cave." We decided to take advantage of having everything out of the basement bathroom and paint it a new color, Scenic Desert (A.K.A. light tan) that goes with the new flooring. The new linoleum will be layed early next week. Then the guys from Superior Steam Cleaning will come back to finish assembling the bathroom and laundry room and our house will finally be fully functioning again.
Things have felt a little clustered with our basement belongings spread throughout the house so it was nice to get away for a long weekend over Independence Day. I took Adam to Grand Rapids for our new biennial family reunion whilst Robin travelled to Mandan for a bridal shower. It was nice to see my aunts and uncles and cousins again. Thanks to Cheri and Terry for hosting all of us. There are two kids close in age to Adam so it's nice to get them together and watch them play. The kids had lots of fun swimming, boating, and fireworks (at least for some). Adam wasn't too excited about the fireworks, he found solace by the cherub in Cheri's garden.
Happy 39th Birthday, Carmen (again...)

Quite possibly the most ridiculous picture of Adam ever
