Well, as the title says, we had a wonderful weekend. Thursday night Robin and I went out (with a few friends) to view the two houses we had narrowed our search down to. Robin made the correct call right away, but it took me a couple hours of reflection to come to the same conclusion. Saturday morning we made an offer on a 5BR rambler a few blocks from where we currently live. Robin went out to lunch with her friends and I went to a movie with the guys. We got to play some phone tag in the midst of all this because of their counter offer. We deemed that in their situation, this would be the best deal we'd get and accepted. If all goes as planned, we hope to close and move in at the end of June.
Glen and Cathy were also in town this weekend to babysit because we had plans to go to a concert (Billy Joel and Elton John) Saturday night. It was another phenomenal concert by two great artists who bring it all to the stage every performance. They started by doing a few songs together followed by solo sets by each artist. Then finished the show by both coming back on stage along with each of their comlete bands. Billy Joel seemed to me a little out of sync at the very beginning, but when he came out to do his solo set, he was ready to win the crowd who seemed to be more excited about EJ. We could tell that EJ's age has started catching up with him, as he no longer goes for the high notes in songs like Crocodile Rock, Bennie and the Jets, Daniel, etc. This doesn't mean his best is behind him by any means, as he still sings just as you'd expect to hear him on albums. BJ likes to ham it up a little more on stage and interact with the crowd. He even stepped away from the piano and played guitar for a couple songs including We Didn't Start the Fire. One of my favorite songs of the night, however, was the penultimate song where they performed Candle in the Wind where it was just the two of them with pianos. It was one of the only times of the night where they mixed in a little harmony together. And of course, they ended with Piano Man.
So with buying a house, enjoying a concert, and spending most of the weekend with family and friends topped off with beautiful weather finally, it's been a very wonderful weekend. And finally, here are some pictures of our new home (and believe it or not, no pictures of Adam this time).
