Weathering the storm

Well the big storm that was forecasted to hit our area wound up not being too bad. We did get a few inches of very wet snow and rain, but not the 12 inches that was predicted. What we did get was enough. It took both Ryan and I a good 3 hours to scrap the layer of ice off of our driveway. Actually, Ryan did more scraping while Adam and I did more playing.

Starting to sink in...

The realization that I am finally done with school is really starting to sink in. My nights are all of a sudden free, and I find myself having the time to do things that I want to do instead of things I have to do (like homework). One of things that I have wanted to do is spend more time having fun with my boys. It has been wonderful coming home and not having to rush right into homework. I instead get to rush right into a big hug from my son. Here are some of the fun things we have been up to around our house.

Happy New Year!

We rang in the New Year in Duluth this year. Ryan, Adam and I along with the rest of the Fargo crew headed east for a long weekend of food and fun. On New Years day, after enjoying my dad's chop suey, we braved the cold weather and went down to Bentleyville to look at the Christmas lights. They put on an amazing light display, along with activities such as ice skating, roasting marshmallows, and visiting Frosty the Snowman. (Adam was pretty impressed with Frosty).

On Saturday we kept things pretty quite. We enjoyed an amazing lunch at the Brewhouse and did some shopping at some of the fun shops downtown. That evening we had a small family Christmas at Granny and Papas. Adam has sure got the opening the presents thing down. And he sure had quite a few to open.

White Christmas

We had a very white Christmas in Fargo this year, however it was still a wonderful weekend. We had all the Fried's together for the weekend. With the blizzard we stayed pretty shut in, but there was plenty of good food, fun games and nice company to enjoy. Aunt Kristen taught Adam how to shake his presents and guess what they were. According to Adam, if his predictions were correct, he would have received a puppy and a bumble bee this year. Even though his predictions did not pan out, he still received a lot of very nice toys, books and clothes.

Now that everyone has left, a quiet has come over our house, and Adam has finally come down from his Christmas high. Here are some pictures from our great holiday weekend.

Here is a rare shot of Adam giving me his grumpy face. I usually get this look when I make him do something he doesn't want to do. In this instance, I got it for taking the camera away from him.

Its done, its over, and it was time to celebrate. I finally finished my Master's degree! I can't believe it is finally over. These past 18 months have flown by. To celebrate, we had a big party for family and friends. Erika graduated as well, so there was a lot to celebrate and many people who came to show support and celebrate with us. Thank you to everyone!


This weekend was filled with other activities as well. We took Adam to Santa's Village to visit Santa. He seemed pretty excited, but as soon as we got to the big guy he froze and would not let go of mom. Oh well, maybe next year he'll be more brave. He still had fun with the other activities they had for kids.

Grandma Sonya brought back some of Ryan's old childhood toys this weekend. It was hard to tell who had more fun Adam or Daddy. Ryan took a trip down memory lane and starting teaching Adam all of the finer point of He-Man and baseball cards.
